In April 2018, the PDN Trail Advisory Committee was established to provide recommendations for the implementation of the Paso del Norte Trail. The PDN Trail Advisory Committee is chaired by the former TxDOT Chairman Ted Houghton and includes members from both the public and private sectors. Collaborators for this project include the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, City of El Paso, County of El Paso, El Paso County Water Improvement District #1, El Paso Water, El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization, Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority, Medical Center of the Americas, and Quantum Engineering Consultants, Inc.

In August 2019, the Advisory Committee identified a strategic focus area that spans from The University of Texas at El Paso to the Playa Drain Trail at Ascarate Park.

Ricardo Samaniego is a native El Pasoan and a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso. He has worked in both the public and private sectors and owns a local chain of businesses. Ricardo has made economic development and public health a focus for his office.

Marty Boyd is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University. She has experience in traffic engineering, land development, and transportation planning. Marty has served on many regional advisory committees and is currently a member of the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization's Transportation Project Advisory Committee.

Marybeth Stevens is an experienced lawyer, consultant, and executive for organizations throughout North and Central America. Additionally, she is an avid cyclist. Marybeth has served as the Chair of the Board for the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce and taught at The University of Texas at El Paso.

Bob Ayoub is a lifelong resident of El Paso and graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Accounting. He was president of MIMCO, Inc. for over 20 years and has served on numerous advisory committees and boards throughout the Paso del Norte region.
