Paso del Norte Trail to Be Part of Half Marathon Championships!

The 2019 half marathon course is flat, fast and fun! The course runs through Ascarate Park, which is the largest public-use recreational park in El Paso County featuring a lake, scenic boardwalk, golf-course and other amenities. After running through the park, athletes will then run on the City of El Paso’s newly opened Playa Drain Trail. This multi-use recreational trail runs from Ascarate Park to Riverside Park on the historic Playa Drain near the U.S.-Mexico border.


The Championships are being hosted by El Paso Community College and presented by the El Paso Sports Commission.


The awards ceremony will be held at the Ascarate Park Pavilion at 11:30 a.m. MT or 30 minutes after the last runner finishes. Post-race food will be available for athletes and coaches at the conclusion of the race.

The individual champion will receive a plaque from NJCAA. Medals will be presented to the top two finishers in their respective divisions. Each individual runner on the first-place team and runner-up team will receive medals. Trophies will be presented to the NJCAA team champions and runners-up.
